More Q & As Involved with Ordering the Appraisal and Involvement of AMCs

    • AKA: Mother-in law (MIL); Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU), Detached Dwelling Unit (DDU), Casita, etc.
  • I’ve never appraised a property like this, is it OK for me to do so?
  • I’m not competent to appraise in this area, am I allowed to provide an appraisal?
  • I don’t have access to the local MLS and/or county data in this area, can I still provide an appraisal?
  • I’ve been told that lenders are required to use AMCs when ordering appraisals.  Is that true?
  • The lender or AMC has a requirement that they have an image or copy of my signature on file, is that allowed?
  • It is legal for AMCs to remove an appraiser's name from their list if said appraiser does not accept their fees?
